About the Society

Mission Statement

"A Catholic University's privileged task is 'to unite existentially by intellectual effort two orders of reality that too frequently tend to be placed in opposition as though they were antithetical: the search for truth, and the certainty of already knowing the truth.' " (Ex Corde Ecclesiae, 1) The mission of the Society for the Romance of Faith is to help the Catholic University of America to retain, articulate, and defend its Roman Catholic identity, in accord with Ex Corde Ecclesiae, the apostolic constitution on Catholic universities issued by Pope John Paul II. The Society hopes to educate all members of the CUA community in the importance of fostering a Catholic culture, both in the academic and social spheres of CUA, to counter the effect of the secular culture of death.
