The Society for the Romance of The Faith at CUA

Sep. 14th: Triumph of the Cross

Sep. 14 is the solemn feastday of the Triumph of the Cross. To celebrate this feastday, The Society for the Romance of the Faith and Campus Ministry have teamed up to offer crucifixes to the CUA community, that can be placed in dorm rooms or off-campus apartments. Order your crucifix today!

About the Society:

Our Mission: "A Catholic University's privileged task is 'to unite existentially by intellectual effort two orders of reality that too frequently tend to be placed in opposition as though they were antithetical: the search for truth, and the certainty of already knowing the truth.' " (Ex Corde Ecclesiae, 1) The mission of the Society for the Romance of Faith is to help the Catholic University of America to retain, articulate, and defend its Roman Catholic identity, in accord with Ex Corde Ecclesiae, the apostolic constitution on Catholic universities issued by Pope John Paul II. The Society hopes to educate all members of the CUA community in the importance of fostering a Catholic culture, both in the academic and social spheres of CUA, to counter the effect of the secular culture of death.

The G.K. Chesterton Society:

Much of the great Christian literature of this century is ignored by professors of literature. The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkein did not even make it on to the Random House rating of the "best 100 novels" of this century. The G.K. Chesterton society convenes to discuss this "lost literature."

"The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who can't read them."
--Mark Twain

If Crucifixes in the Classroom, Why Not Prayer?

Why might a professor begin class with the Lord's Prayer? Read this article by Gregory R. Beabout, originally published in the April issue of New Oxford Review. Don't divide your life into "academic" and "spiritual" realms.Click here.

What's Ex Corde Ecclesiae?

Ex Corde Ecclesiae is the Apostolic Constitution on Catholic Universities issued by Pope John Paul II. It presents a wonderful vision and norms for Catholic Universities around the world.
