The OCA staff strives to empower students and student organizations, providing them with the tools necessary to make considered, logical decisions consistent with and upholding the mission of the university, utilizing professional best practices and collaboration with faculty, staff, and students.

Student leadership development is a critical component of the Office of Campus Activities. Committed to creating valuable and rewarding
leadership development programs that uphold the university’s values and Catholic
identity, exceptional opportunities are created by linking an academic and experiential
approach to leadership learning. Specifically, leadership learning at Catholic University
provides an opportunity for students to develop, explore and apply their leadership skills
through the Emerging Leaders program, applied leadership opportunities such as
student government, student organizations, student employment and community
involvement, and other opportunities for those seeking to learn and/or hone leadership skills. The offerings associated with student leadership challenge students to achieve their full potential and to prepare students to be citizens of the world beyond Catholic University.

STUDENT GOVERNANCE

Student Association
Pryzbyla Center 107
Phone: 202-319-5771

The Student Association consists of two parts—the Student Association General Assembly (SAGA) and the Student Fee Allocation Board (SFAB).

The primary function of the Student Association General Assembly (SAGA) is to serve the
undergraduate student body by representing students and their interests to officials of
the university. SAGA acts as an advocate for students and lobbies for specific short- and
long-term needs through its various branches and committees. The majority of work
is done in committees that are open to all undergraduates. All members of the undergraduate student body are SAGA members. Success is based on the level of participation of all members, not merely the elected representatives. All students are encouraged to become involved in various projects organized by SAGA.

The Student Fee Allocation Board (SFAB) has as its primary purpose the allocation of the student activity fee, which is paid by each undergraduate student. SFAB entertains requests for financial support from student organizations and other university entities. It meets regularly in order to effectively and efficiently allocate funds. It also requires certain criteria to be met by those requesting funding in order to continue to be responsible stewards of student fees.

Graduate Student Association
Pryzbyla Center 107
Phone: 202-319-5773
As the official voice of graduate students, the Graduate Student Association (GSA) is concerned with all aspects of graduate student life. It sponsors many activities that reflect the diversity of its members and helps bring the graduate community together. All graduate students who pay the activities fee are members of the association, which is governed by a senate that follows the GSA Constitution. Meetings of the senate are open to any graduate student.
Student Representation: Academic Senate
The Academic Senate recognizes two graduate and three undergraduate delegates, elected annually from the student body according to procedures approved by the Academic Senate.

Board of Trustees
The elected undergraduate and graduate student presidents, with the approval of the student government adviser(s) and the cognizant vice president staffing the committee, are invited to attend the meeting of either the academic or student life standing committees of the board as non-voting representatives when appropriate. The elected presidents may also nominate two other students to serve on either of the committees and in the same capacity.
