Social Security & Tax Information

You will be issued a student identification number at registration. This is not a real social security number. If you are teaching assistant or wish to work on campus later in the year, you will need a real number. Please visit our office to obtain instructions for applying for a Social Security number.

Students who receive pay for on campus work/assistantships, should visit the Payroll Office to learn about the tax they must pay. All students who have been in the U.S. for one year must file a tax return with the U.S. government each year whether or not they work on campus.
